Celebrating 15 Years: How It All Began

Founded fifteen years ago, Girls on the Run South Louisiana (GOTR SOLA) began in 2009 with 2 teams and 24 girls, but quickly grew into a movement that has since touched the lives of over 13,000 girls across the region.

At its heart, GOTR SOLA is more than a running program. It’s a supportive, uplifting community where girls can discover their potential and be celebrated for who they are. Through fun, interactive lessons and running activities, girls learn the importance of goal-setting, self-confidence, and teamwork.

As we celebrate our 15th anniversary, we reflect on the countless participants who have completed the Girls on the Run program. GOTR SOLA has flourished because of the dedication of coaches, volunteers, and supporters who believe in the power of this program to inspire lasting change. Check back over the next few months as we share their stories.
