Join us in welcoming our Girls on the Run South Louisiana Fall 2025 Intern, Elise Jones! Elise is a Girls on the Run alumna from Baton Rouge and will support communications and programming this fall.

Elise shares, "Ever since I participated in GOTR at Our Lady of Mercy over a decade ago, the program has made a lasting impact on my life, and I hold nothing but positive memories from it."

"I remember the kind coaches, the helpful lessons we learned, and the excitement of the 5K."

After completing the Girls on the Run program in elementary school, Elise attended St. Joseph's Academy and competed on the Cross Country Team. She says, "Many of my teammates also started their running journey at GOTR. We all carried the confidence and courage that GOTR instilled in us."

Elise is completing her Marketing degree at LSU. This fall she will support managing the Girls on the Run South Louisiana social media platforms, recruiting volunteers for the Girls on the Run 5K, and mentoring girls as a Coach at a local school.

"I wanted to become a GOTR coach and intern so I could give that same opportunity to today’s young girls. The curriculum is so valuable for any 3rd-5th grade girl trying to navigate new life challenges and discover who they are. I can’t wait to coach  this fall so I can create a positive experience for these girls and help them activate their STAR POWER!"

We are proud to welcome Girls on the Run alumna and fall intern, Elise Jones! Follow along on social media to see all the incredible work happening this season.
